I was very excited to receive a text from a friend to tell me Blue Frog had opened in Nanjing. We had been once before in Shanghai and I had really enjoyed their sliders.
Payday had arrived and we decided to head into town to the visit the frog for our Sunday meal. To say I was a little excited would be an understatement. We don't have very many eating establishments like this in Nanjing.
I had already been online and looked at their menu and decided what I was having in advance.
We took the metro into town and walked the short distance to the restaurant. It was mostly westerners in there, many of which we knew. I was surprised that it was not busier. We got seated upstairs, with a baby seat and were the only people in our section. We placed our order and waited. Hubby had steak and eggs and The eldest had a littles ones brunch. My Montana burger arrived later, much later!
Hubby's eggs were on the verge of being undercooked, the steak was really peppery, which was fine for him as he likes pepper but I hate it. His homes fries were ok, nothing special but a little on the cold side.
Our eldest had a brunch, he loved the pancake and syrup, gulped down the sausage and bacon, which did not look that appealing to me, but he loved them, he also cleared his home fries but struggled with the scrambled egg. He said it was too wet. And I couldn't really disagree with him.
My burger was cooked to perfection, served hot and tasted great.
For desert we ordered an apple crumble and a chocolate brownie sundae. The sundae arrived less the brownie. When we asked about it the waiter was very matter of fact about it, they don't served brownie sundaes today!
Hubby gave a thumbs up to the crumble and then we availed of their happy hour. Buy one drink and receive a free refill. I had a piña colada which was very nice, but small. I guess this didn't really matter as you got two. Hubby had an organism. This was much stronger than the piña colada. We also had 2 cokes, our total bill came to 405RMB.
We felt overall the service was a little slow, especially as they were not busy. The food was ok, I really enjoyed mine but I think hubby would definitely make a different choice next time.
It is also a little far for us to become a regular haunt. Maybe a special treat now and then. We gave it a 7/10.
The view out the window of the frog.
A very nice interior.
Steak and eggs.
Montana burger.
Apple crumble.
Thanks for the address... I'll walk around and if I happen to see it by chance I'll pop in for a look. I might even pin it on Google maps to narrow it down to a ten block search.
